ABOUT SIR PHILIP DAVIES

Philip Davies

Introduction

Philip was elected as the Member of Parliament for Shipley in 2005 and served nearly two decades in the House of Commons. Before that he worked for Asda in a variety of roles. Philip is married to Rt Hon Esther McVey - the Conservative MP for Tatton - and presented a twice weekly show on GB News with her.

In Parliament

Philip served on many Select Committees - including Justice, Backbench Business, Women and Equalities, Modernisation of the House of Commons and Culture, Media and Sport. He was also an Executive member of the 1922 Committee.


He was a member of the Panel of Chairs from 2010 until 2024 and regularly chaired Parliamentary debates in Westminster Hall and the committee stages of Bills. In Parliament, Philip was renowned by both sides of the House as an expert in Parliamentary procedure.


He was also Chairman, Joint Chairman and Vice Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Groups for Customer Service, Betting and Gaming and Racing and Bloodstock.

In Business

During his career of over a decade at Asda, Philip worked in various different positions both in stores and at the Head Office. His roles included Senior Local Marketing Manager and Senior Customer Service Project Manager.


Philip has also acted as an advisor to a number of businesses and organisations including GVC, Merkur and the National Pawnbrokers Association.


Philip is also on the board of the Racehorse Owners Association.
